Tin & Clay Branding

Tin & Clay’s mission is to expand the concept of unisex by incorporating architecture, functionality, detail, and quality into its luxury designs. It is rooted in Eritrean ideals around creativity, ingenuity, and fearlessness.

The brand crosses boundaries of gender and place, bridging the communal experiences of Eritrean and Ethiopian coffee ceremonies with the constellation of Black identities. This is best reflected in the brand name, “Tin,” which references tin cans upcycled to roasting pans for coffee beans, and “Clay,” which references the material of Eritrean and Ethiopian coffee pots. The brand color also represents the clay coffee pots and the iron-rich red soil popularly seen throughout Eritrea.
